i-THRIVE

i-THRIVE is a National Programme that aims to help children and young people improve their mental health and wellbeing.

In collaboration with i-THRIVE, Merton Council have created a leaflet with information about local resources that are accessible to children and young people: i-THRIVE Flyer – Parents, Carers, Families and Young People

There are also YouTube videos available for both parents and children, covering topics such as anxiety, motivation and sleep disruption.

Confidentiality

  • We provide a confidential service to all of our patients, including those under 16.
  • Confidentiality is about keeping things private between you and a healthcare professional. This means anything you discuss with a member of the practice will not be shared with anyone, including your family, teachers or employers.
  • The only time a healthcare professional might have to consider sharing information is if they are worried that you are putting yourself or others in serious danger. It is your right to be told if this is going to happen and we will always try to discuss this with you first.

Making an appointment

  • There are multiple ways to book an appointment to see a doctor, nurse, paramedic, pharmacist, physio or social prescriber at our practice.
  • You can do this by calling reception or by booking online.
  • You will need to register for online services, and are able to do this from any age. (www.lambtonroadmedical.nhs.uk – Register for Online Services)

Confidentiality

  • Everyone at the practice has the right to consent, including those under 16.
  • Consent is about giving permission for things to happen to you, eg deciding what treatment you get. Everyone has the right to make their own decisions about things that happen to their bodies, whatever their age.
  • However, if a healthcare professional thinks you are unable to understand the advice or make an informed decision, they may need someone else to consent for you such as a parent.

Registering at our practice

During your appointment

  • Every young person is entitled to see a GP on their own.
  • In fact, it is an important part of growing up to be able to talk about your health.
  • You are able to book appointments and be seen without a parent/carer from any age.
  • Routine appointments are 10 minutes long and you will be asked lots of questions.
  • At first patients can feel embarrassed talking about their physical or mental health concerns, but it can help to know doctors have seen everything before.
  • If you do not understand, please ask, as there is no such thing as a silly question.
